This large, adorable horse can be both comforting friend and pillow! The boxy shape works well with patchwork and the large blank sides allow for plenty of creative stitching. I want to encourage you to sew sustainably and enjoy our amazing craft without putting additional strain on our precious planet. My suggestion is to make the pony with fabric and blocks that you already have lying around and to use up spare batting and yarn for filling and details.
The pattern includes ideas for many different versions of the pony using a range of pre-loved materials and patchwork ideas.
The pattern also includes the original Dala Horse that the pattern is based on, including templates for the EPP patchwork saddle, and embroidered felt mane. I’ve even included a template and instructions to add a unicorn horn to your pony for that extra bit of magic! Pattern now includes Reindeer Antler Addendum as a separate PDF document for a bit of Xmas sparkle!
There are helpful accompanying posts on my blog (search 'patchwork pony' in the search bar) which accompany the Sew Alongs in 2022 and 2023, please do check these out ahead of starting your pony as they will include extras such as video tutorials to help you make your pony with ease.
